Can any teacher apply for nomination to the National seminars?
No. In order to qualify for consideration a candidate
- must be a full time K-12 teacher in Appoquinimink, Christina, Colonial, NCC Vo-Tech or Red Clay Consolidated School District, and must have the intention of continuing to teach in his/her district
- must have successfully completed one of the seminars offered at the University of Delaware, in the fall of 2011
- must have the approval of his/her principal, and a formal consultation with his/her district curriculum specialist, over his/her curriculum unitidea(s)
What are the commitments in time and service to the Institute?
A successful applicant for the Yale seminars must:
- attend an organizational session at Yale in May
- participate in two weeks of intensive seminar work and Institute training in July, at Yale
- attend the annual conference at Yale, in October
- commit to an active leadership position in the Delaware Teachers Institute
